Sunshine, lazy rivers, water slides, palm trees, and what else...a volcano! Welcome to Universal's Volcano Bay waterpark, a mini paradise right next door to the popular Orlando theme park and adventure destination. This tropical landscape transports you right into an enchanting, beautiful Hawaiian island and escape from reality. It's the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the busy theme parks, providing a tropical infusion of a giant wave pool, two winding rivers, private tiki hut cabanas, several water slides, delicious cocktails, and above all else, endless sunshine. Below is my list of top five things to do while visiting central Florida's biggest and greatest water park, Universal's Volcano Bay!

  1. Enjoy the winding and lazy rivers!

TeAwa the Fearless River - located in the Rainforest Village, a high speed winding river down the lagoon transports guests down wild rapids and fast turns, even taking them right behind the famous Krakatau Aqua Coaster. Life vests at all times are required and the height requirement is 42 inches to ride!

Kopiko Wai - located in River Village, a quiet, lazy river takes guests floating down (and through) the Krakatau Aqua Coaster and Stargazers Cavern, where they encounter sprays of water and light waterfalls along the way. A great way to chill out in the warm, Florida afternoon and float down the river until you're heart's content. Life vests are only required for children under 48 inches.

2. Ride the wave at Waturi Beach!

Get ready to ride the wave! This giant wave pool is found at the bottom of the massive Krakatau volcano right as you enter the waterpark, front and center of the beach at Wave Village. The bell will toll before the waves come in as it counts down to the fun experience, where guests can climb the waves or simply sit relaxing in the peaceful, teal blue water underneath the sun.

3. Grab a drink at the Dancing Dragons!

If you're looking for a delicious, tropical cocktail, Dancing Dragons Boat Bar is the spot for you! Grab a fun, island themed drink at this bar located in Wave Village within a giant wooden canoe. This bar serves fruity, frozen drinks as well as refreshing beers - perfect for those hot summer days at the beach!

4. Conquer your fears on Krakatau!

Located in River Village, jump aboard the famous Krakatau Aqua Coaster, a 200 foot volcanic statue featuring several launches, hills, dark twists and turns, and steep drops all while plunging guests down the final tube into the water below. It is the official flagship attraction at Volcano Bay and height requirement is 42 inches for riders.

5. Challenge your friend on Tonga and Raki!

Up for some competition? Grab a friend and choose one of the single, or double rafts, and race down the Tonga (green) or Raki (blue) slides featuring various twists and turns and exhilarating experiences during the race, and see who wins at the end! This attraction is located in Rainforest Village, near the TeAwa River, and the height requirement is 42 inches for partners or 49 inches to ride solo.
